$50 Lesson

A $50 Lesson

I recently asked my friends' little girl what she
wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to
be President some day.
Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were
standing there, so I asked her, 'If you were
President what would be the first thing you would do? '
She replied, 'I'd give food and houses to all
the homeless people.'

Her parents beamed with pride.

'Wow...what a worthy goal.' I told her,
'But you don't have to wait until you're President to
do that. You can come over to
my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my
yard, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store
where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward
food and a new house.' She thought that over for a few seconds,
then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, ' Why doesn't
the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50? '

I said, 'Welcome to the Republican Party.'

Her parents still aren't speaking to me .

Lost Rewatch Season 1

I am watching LOST all over again in anticipation of the final season starting in January of next year. We have almost completed the first Season, and it has just flown right by. But it has been a blast. Just finished watching Born to Run, where we see Kate and her child hood friend Tom reunite while she is trying to get an opportunity to see her mother who is in the hospital dying of cancer. When Kate and Tom decided to dig up a time capsule they have buried, we see the New Kids on teh Black Lunch box that Kate tried to steal in the Season five finale. Got to love LOST! This have some many awsome little things like this, I would have glanced over had I not been looking.

Liberty & Tyranny

Just finished the book Liberty & Tyranny by Mark Levin. This is by far one of the best books I have read in a while, and suggest it to everyone. It lays out exactly what a Conservative believes, shows the contrasting Statist view and the problems with it. He makes it very clear how and why we are losing our freedoms under the disguise of security.

Blogging

I don't know if I have caught on to what I am supposed to do with a blog, but I have this come up everyday to remind me to post something. And for a month, I have just hit the little x in the corner and shut it back down. I always feel like I need to think things out a bit more than just blab away on what is on my mind. Or that talking about what I am thinking about isn't good enough to post, it has to be more exciting, and thoughtful. Which means I don't have the time to do it, and it never gets done.

So I guess the point is, if I am going to have a blog, I might as well write something one here. BLAH BLAH
